Andrzej Maciejewski

jest polskim fotografem mieszkającym obecnie w Kanadzie. Urodził się w roku 1959 w Warszawie. Studiował fotografię w Zespole Szkół Fototechnicznych w Warszawie, Wyższej Szkole Fotografii w Ostrawie (Czechosłowacja) oraz na kursach ZPAF. Już jako młody artysta wystawiał swoje prace w kilku galeriach w Polsce, miedzy innymi w legendarnej galerii Foto-Medium-Art we Wrocławiu.
W roku 1985 emigrował do Kanady. Początkowo zamieszkał w Toronto, gdzie pracował w studiu Lenscape Inc., specjalizującym się w fotografii architektury i modeli architektonicznych. W tym okresie współpracował także z istniejącą do dzisiaj w Toronto galerią fotografii Gallery 44. W połowie lat 90. zrezygnował z pracy komercyjnej, aby całkowicie poświęcić się własnym projektom i przeniósł się na wieś, do wschodniej części prowincji Ontario, gdzie mieszka i pracuje do dziś.
Prace Andrzeja Maciejewskiego znajdują się w wielu kolekcjach publicznych i prywatnych, między innymi w Museum fur Kunst und Kulturgeschichte w Dortmundzie (Niemcy), w Preus Museum, Narodowym Muzeum Fotografii w Horten (Norwegia), w McCord Museum w Montrealu (Kanada) czy w Instytucie Sztuki w Minneapolis (USA). Były wystawiane w Polsce, Kanadzie, USA, Wielkiej Brytanii, Niemczech, Norwegii, Finlandii, Ugandzie i na Łotwie. Opublikował cztery książki: “Bread” (1996), “Toronto Parks” (1997), “After Notman” (2003) i “Garden of Eden (2012). Jego twórczość obejmuje szerokie spektrum tematów i technik, od klasycznej wielkoformatowej fotografii czarno-białej po fotografię cyfrową. Międzynarodowe uznanie zyskał dzięki re-fotograficznemu projektowi “After Notman”, zrealizowanemu w latach 1998-2001, który do dziś otrzymuje nagrody i jest szeroko dyskutowany. Obecnie dwa jego nowsze projekty: “Weather Report” (ukończony 2004) oraz “Garden of Eden” (ukończony 2010) odbywają światowe tournee, odwiedzając galerie i muzea w Europie i Ameryce Północnej. Oprócz działalności stricte artystycznej Andrzej Maciejewski zajmuje się okazjonalnie także nauczaniem fotografii, między innymi we Fleming College, Haliburton School of Arts (Ontario, Kanada).
